When large global events happen - the internetz is great for spreading the news quickly. Sometimes I'll read a headline on Facebook before I see an actual credible news source report. Google Realtime Search is a valuable way to capture status updates and tweets and allow social networking to do the legwork when releasing new and exciting information. Until recently, google had abandoned the feature - it's now back.
The feature was discontinued when disagreements about privacy and sharing of databases occurred between Google and Twitter. Now, Google is flipping Twitter the bird (see what I did there!?) and deciding they don't need a stream of tweets to make the feature beneficial.
I think with the release of Google +, a sense of urgency to get Realtime Search back up was instilled.
Major global events can spread like wildfire through cyberspace once more. No word on an exact release date...yet.
