
While this may be good for children and nostalgic grown men around the world, unless sales start to pick up, we may see handheld devices from Nintendo drop off the market. New tablet devices and smartphones have become the premier gaming platform on the go.
A revolutionary 3D gaming experience was not enough to push people toward single purpose gaming gadgets like the 3DS.
As a side note, those of you who have already purchased a 3DS. Nintendo is offering a plethora (about 20) free game downloads from their e-store.
And for anyone still on the fence about the ~$US 170 price tag - consider this statement mentioned in thr announcement.
Building on the popularity of The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™ 3D, which launched June 19, the upcoming game calendar for Nintendo 3DS is a Who's Who of iconic video game franchises. Star Fox 64™ 3D arrives on Sept. 9, followed by Super Mario™ 3D Land in November, Mario Kart™ 7 in December and Kid Icarus™: Uprising during the holiday season.
