RIM announces 5 new blackberry models.

This got investors excited as RIM saw a huge jump in stock prices yesterday afternoon.

The Blackberry 7 OS will be available in 5 new blackberry models as reported by RIM themselves in an interesting press release yesterday morning.

Building on the tried and tested successful prototypes, two new Bold models and three new Torch models will be released. RIM touts an all-new touch display system. Their official claims below:

The new BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 and 9930 are RIM’s thinnest smartphones ever, each offering a large keyboard and brilliant touch display. The new BlackBerry® Torch™ 9810 smartphone builds on the popularity of the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 and combines a large touch display with a convenient slide-out keyboard. The BlackBerry® Torch™ 9850 and 9860 introduce an all-new, all-touch design featuring the largest display on a BlackBerry® smartphone to date.

It may be a little too late for the Waterloo-based firm as these devices were expected earlier this year. With the iPhone 5 rumored launch date in late September/October, (depending who you ask), RIM's appeal as a "business smartphone" may continue to dwindle. Stock prices hit a 5-year low earlier this year.

Release dates for the new devices are set for the end of the month.
