The new Kindle Fire uses Amazon services in the cloud that allow music and movie streaming, book downloads, cloud storage, and more for a mere $US 199. (CONSIDERABLY cheaper than the iPad.)
When Amazon was designing the Fire, CEO Jeff Bezos says they asked themselves, “Is there some way we can bring all of these together into a remarkable product offering customers will love?”

ReplyDeleteMy opinion: The kindle is not a viable iPad competitor, its small, the relative power is dismal and it's called a kindle
Fact: Amazon is actually losing money on every Kindle sold; it costs them about $210 to make one and they're selling for 199, there has to be a hidden agenda.
3. Great Blog !
Thanks for commenting and the praise!
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right about the hidden agenda. I think Amazon is hoping that by selling their device for so cheap they can rope people into subscriptions for their services. (Like their cloud video and music service.) It's an interesting tactic to capture the "cheaper" market and force them into a monopoly when choosing media to use.
I think it can be an iPad competitor in certain aspects - gaming is not one of them. I believe iPad will continue to have the best hardware for popular selling tablets and along with that is a good gaming experience.
