Canadians don't understand technology risks.

According to CP24, Canadians have a tough time trying to avoid being the victim of cybercrimes compared to our American counterparts.

On Wednesday, the Conference Board of Canada had this to say:

"Canadians don't know enough about the technology they rely upon every day and may be accidentally exposing themselves and the country's infrastructure to unnecessary cyber risks"

E-mail, social media, and other internet practices come under fire from viruses, hackers, or scam artists (or just your regular annoying spam bot). Exposing yourself could be as simple as opening a malicious e-mail attachment.

This report comes after Canadian Government Agencies fell victim to hackers earlier this year. The Treasury Board and Department of Finance were infiltrated.

Do you think this is true? Or does this generalization, (probably based on the older generation), offend you? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. There is NO DIFFERENCE between American and Canadian internet usage - both can be just as ignorant.

And good point - I think Canadians are a little more trusting which can be a problem when it comes to using the internet.
