Homeland security warns of anonymous hack on chemical plants.

With the power of a logic controller at a power plant, the havoc one can cause is mind boggling.

As a chemical engineer, I can understand fully the extent of damage hacktivist action can do on a chemical plant. we're talking closing emergency valves, temperature indicate deregulation, increased pump pressure...the list goes on.

Homeland security ran tests on their own systems as a mock hack situation and the virtual simulation resulted in a toxic chemical spill as reported by Computer World.

According to a bulletin put out by Homeland Security and posted on Public Intelligence, "experienced and skilled members of Anonymous in hacking could be able to develop capabilities to gain access and trespass on control system networks very quickly."

The article is absolutely terrifying as they show the exploits of SCADA systems used in chemical plants.
